Everything was planned and prepared for our 3 rd Cataract surgery programme in Diema, Mali ..it had been announced in the radio encouraging people from the rural areas to come have an eye examination and receive spectacles if necessary, and for others receive free Cataract surgery..
Our Dr’s had everything planned, I had carried with me a donated bio microscope..donated from a university in Madrid..it is really large, heavy but vital for these poorest communities..
So with help from the Lions Club International we managed to load it into the car…
Thankfully it fitted, with other baggages together with it ..although my car was really heavy I managed everything..
Since then I’ve driven through the night, to arrive on time for the start of the programme..
But due to fighting from jahists, all roads into Diema have been blocked/ closed.. no-one can enter or leave…
We had to make a decision wither to abandon the programme altogether or work in another area, as everything has been paid for and everyone ready to work..
After much deliberation it was decided that we would transport our Dr’s and equipment to Mauritania where we will now continue our surgery operations..
It’s going to take place from 8 th September to 14 th …
I’m thrilled we’re able to get this new plan actioned..
So now Mauritanians will be able to reap the benefits of having chance to see our Dr’s for free…
It’s incredible..
On Thursday it’s a grande festival in the same area..Ayounne ..
Photos of the programme will be added to our blog as soon as we have them..
Thank you
May God continue to bless the work we are trying to do here….
