I hurt so much sometimes for the lack of love and compassion, local people have towards their own children, the kinsmen/ women who have mental disorders. Much of the time they’re thrown out of their villages to fend for themselves, becoming vagabonds in the bush, with no one caring what happens to them.I have watched with much difficulty one young man over the years..he was only young when I first met him, over the years the only thing that’s changed his his size..such a shame .
He will stand, bang his head with his hands..jumping up and down in frantic ways..
He comes whenever he knows I’m here, I try to help, but he needs someone with greater experience in that field.
Here in this town, children and adults alike will beat him, if he gets too close.
They’re afraid of anyone a little different to themselves, that they call the norm..
He really needs chance to be in a specialist centre, but here we have nothing that ilk.
So many challenges are embedded in a town such as this for those who are not quite the same.
I wish there was more I could do.
My only route is to pray for individuals such Ouma, a special young man with special needs..
